Career Pathing
Also known as المسارات المهنية
Definition
Career pathing maps the routes an employee can take through an organization — vertical promotion, lateral moves into adjacent functions, and specialist tracks — and states the capabilities each destination requires. It makes progression legible instead of something employees infer from who was promoted last.
Published paths change development behavior. When the requirements for a target role are stated, employees can act on them without waiting for a manager to volunteer the information, and development conversations shift from general aspiration to a specific gap.
Modern frameworks generally include senior specialist tracks alongside management, because the alternative pushes strong technical people into managing in order to advance. Paths also need honest maintenance: a route that is documented but never actually travelled damages trust more than publishing nothing.
