Definition
Content digitization converts existing training material — classroom decks, manuals, recorded sessions, policy documents — into structured digital learning that can be delivered, tracked and maintained at scale. Done properly it is a redesign rather than a file conversion.
The failure mode is the PDF-in-a-player: original material republished in a new container, keeping the sequence and density designed for a facilitator who was there to explain it. Without that facilitator, the same content loses the parts that made it work — questions, emphasis, and adaptation to the room.
A sound digitization pass re-establishes objectives, segments the content for self-paced consumption, converts facilitator questions into interactions and assessment, and adds the navigation and search that make material usable as reference later. That is also the point at which bilingual and mobile requirements are cheapest to address.
