Talent Management System
Also known as TMS · نظام إدارة المواهب
Definition
A Talent Management System (TMS) is the platform layer covering the employee lifecycle beyond learning: recruitment, performance management, goal setting, succession planning and career development. Learning is one module within it, which is why a TMS and an LMS frequently overlap and must be integrated deliberately.
The architectural decision most organizations face is whether to run an integrated suite or best-of-breed tools connected by APIs. Suites give a single employee record and consistent reporting; specialized tools usually give a better experience in their own domain. Neither is universally right, and the cost of the choice is mostly paid in integration and data governance.
When learning and talent data stay separate, the questions leadership actually asks — does completing this program correlate with promotion, do high performers share a development pattern — become manual analysis exercises. Connecting the two systems is what makes those questions answerable.
