Connect Claude or ChatGPT to the Knowledge Library

Ask Claude or ChatGPT about company policy and get answers drawn from the documents you can already open in Salalem.

Server address

https://mcp.salalem.com

Use this address as it is. Once you sign in with your Salalem account, answers come only from the documents you can already open.

01 Before you start

Three things to know first

  1. Your administrator turns it on

It needs the AI assistant add-on, and it is off for every organization until a Super Admin switches it on in Salalem Studio, under Knowledge Library → Settings. Until then, sign-in stops at a page saying connections are turned off. Ask your L&D or IT team.

  2. You sign in with your Salalem account

The same email and password, single sign-on, or passkey you use for Salalem today. There is no key to copy and nothing to install.

  3. Your company's AI policy applies

What Claude or ChatGPT reads is processed by your own AI account, under that provider's terms. If your company limits which AI tools may see internal documents, check before you connect.

02 Connect

Choose your AI app

Each app puts the server address in a different place. Choose yours to see its steps.

Claude

  1. Open Claude on the web or in the desktop app and go to Customize → Connectors.

  2. Select + and choose Add custom connector.

  3. Name it Salalem Knowledge Library and paste the server address. Leave Advanced settings empty: Salalem needs no client ID or secret.

  4. Select Add, then Connect. Sign in to Salalem in the window that opens and select Allow. If you belong to more than one organization, select Allow beside the one whose library you want.

  5. In a chat, open + → Connectors and switch Salalem Knowledge Library on.

On Claude Team and Enterprise, an owner of your Claude organization adds the connector first, under Organization settings → Connectors. It then appears in your list with a Custom label, and you select Connect. Once connected, it also works in the Claude mobile apps.

ChatGPT

  1. Open ChatGPT on the web, go to Settings → Apps → Advanced settings, and turn on Developer mode.

  2. Select Create app. Name it Salalem Knowledge Library, paste the server address, and leave authentication set to OAuth.

  3. Continue, sign in to Salalem in the window that opens, and select Allow. If you belong to more than one organization, select Allow beside the one whose library you want.

  4. In a chat, add Salalem Knowledge Library from the + menu.

Custom apps need a paid ChatGPT plan and run on the web. On Business, Enterprise, and Edu, a workspace admin must allow custom apps first. OpenAI moves these menus from time to time; if a label differs, search Settings for Developer mode.

03 Try it

Ask it about your policies

Once connected, ask in your own words. Claude or ChatGPT gets a link to each document it reads, so it can point you to the source in Salalem.

  • Search our Knowledge Library for the leave policy and summarize who is eligible.

  • What does our travel policy say about booking flights? Quote it and give me the link.

  • Which documents in the HR space mention probation?

04 Limits

What it can see, and what it can't

  • Only what you can already open

The same audience rules as the Salalem app. Drafts, documents restricted to other teams, and other organizations' libraries never come back.

  • Read-only

It can search and read. It cannot edit, upload, or acknowledge a document for you.

  • The current version

Answers come from the published version, with a link that opens it in Salalem.

  • It ends when your access does

If your administrator turns it off, or your account leaves the organization, the next request is refused.

05 Troubleshooting

If something goes wrong

Sign-in says connections are turned off

Your organization hasn't turned it on or doesn't have the AI assistant add-on, or your account belongs to a different organization than the one that did. Ask a Super Admin to switch it on under Knowledge Library → Settings, then connect again.

It says the connection request has expired

A sign-in link lasts ten minutes and works once. Start the connection again from your AI client.

It connects but finds nothing

It searches the published documents you're cleared to read, and nothing else. If a document doesn't appear for you in the Knowledge Base in Salalem, Claude or ChatGPT can't see it either.

It worked, then stopped

Your administrator may have turned it off, or your access changed. If you haven't used it for 30 days, you also need to sign in again. Remove the connector, add it again, and sign in.

Claude doesn't offer Add custom connector

On Claude Team and Enterprise, only an owner of your Claude organization can add one. Send them the server address and ask them to add it under Organization settings → Connectors. You then select Connect.

How do I disconnect?

Remove the connector in Claude, or the app in ChatGPT. A Super Admin can also end every connection in the organization by switching the setting off.
