Training ROI
Also known as ROI · العائد على الاستثمار في التدريب
Definition
Training return on investment expresses the monetary benefit of a program against its full cost, conventionally as (net benefit ÷ cost) × 100. Full cost includes design, delivery, platform and — usually the largest component — participant time away from productive work.
The hard part is attribution rather than arithmetic. Business results move for many reasons at once, so crediting a change to training requires either a comparison group, a staged rollout, or an explicit and stated assumption about the share attributable. Presenting a large ROI figure without that reasoning invites justified skepticism.
ROI is worth calculating selectively: for expensive programs, for interventions tied to a measurable operational cost such as rework or turnover, and where a credible baseline exists. For most training, a clear line from a business metric to a behavior change is more persuasive than a precise-looking percentage nobody can reproduce.
